TED Talk - David Carson

Carson's Ted talk shows his innovative style of design that strays from the traditional perception of typography. He also talks about how typography emphasis's a space/place based on the emotion that the type brings to the viewer.

It it obvious that Carson does not bound himself to the structure of the letters, but rather their emotion and the forms they can create. He talks about how his personal background causes his unique perception and intuition that is different between us all. By comparing the two parking signs with the same message, he uses this as an example of how typography and form effects the message and emotion of the message. One simple aspect can change the entire feel of a design.

At the end of his talk he questions what it means to do/have a great job. He makes a good point when saying, "if money wasn't a factor, would you still be doing what you do?" Although we aren't making any money so far, I'd say my answer is YES!
