1) The risk of animal endangerment and extinction has vastly increased through time due to humanization of the environment. 2) The human population now poses a larger threat to animals than natural process, causing us to be both the problem and the potential solution. 3) Global climate change, deforestation, and overhunting due to the human race has effected animal populations and their environment as a whole. Leading to a chain reaction of endangered and extinct species.
My thoughts about this topic after researching it: one page research paper
The increasing numbers of endangered species all across the world seems like this domino effect of human activities. Our devastating endangerment effects not only the animals directly, but also endangers the food chain, their natural habitat and their environment conditions. Overhunting, deforestation, and global climate change.
After using and creating my own "morphological analysis"......
I decided to go in the following three directions.
1. a list of all extinct, endangered, vulnerable, etc animals. Being able to see just how many and exactly what animals has a great affect on all ages. Since this exhibition is shown all across the globe to all ages, I wanted a direction that any age could understand and take something away from. I feel like most all people know that there is an endangered species problem of some sort, but don't understand to what extent we are causing damage. Statistics and facts don't always get across to everyone, especially visual people (which if you are visiting an exhibition of "graphic advocacy" then most likely you are a visual person to some extent.
This design is 40 inches long (the same length of the original poster) but only 5 inches wide. Sine there isn't a whole lot of space in the photos of exhibits, I didn't want to take up so much space that another poster / social debate didn't have room for. I also didn't want to take away from the original design. I love the original poster.. which this is it by the way!
Anyways... design idea #1
Idea #2: Going off the fact that there isn't much space, I created a GIF with images and animal names of the critically endangered and endangered animals. The focus for this one is to play off the viewers emotion by showing the faces of the actual animals that there is still time left to help them. They aren't extinct yet, but they are very close. People could then get involved and learn how to help.. (I should add that to info to the end of the GIF) (when I refine that's another idea to throw in)
heres the link for the GIF
Idea #3: More informative about numbers a statistics. To call and draw to those looking to help. More of an infographic approach.
