Adrian Frutiger: Who

Frutiger is a typeface designer. His best known typefaces.. Univers and Frutiger.
However, those aren't his only designs.  He's the creator of over 30 different styles and has also won 8 awards for his work. Including the Gutenberg Prize of the City of Mainz in Germany back in 1986, and more recently the Kulturpreis Berner Oberland in 2013.
Going back to his early life, Frutiger was the son of a weaver who even very early on invented many scripts and stylized styles of handwriting in a rebellious reaction to the cursive required by Swiss schools at the time. His father's encouragement in working in print caused Frutiger to stray away from his love for sculpture; although he maintains his love as a hobby as well as influence in his typeface designs.
Currently Frutiger is 86 years young and the National Design Institute renamed itself "National Institute of Design" to match his stylized NID logotype.
